Dog Walk on Shabbat Morning
Every Saturday at about 6:00 am my Bernese Mountain Dog, Simba, wakes me up by digging her nose into my ribs, and she speaks to me in doggy language. " Its Shabbat, get up, its time for our shabat walk in park Anabe". Even as I get dressed, Simba dances round me and begins to bark. We leave the house and meet up with our canine and human friends. The dogs have the time of their lives, and we humans have a wonderful time watching their behavior, and learning how to control them. These dogs learn rules of how to behave when confronted with other dogs , cyclists and even nervous joggers. I have opened a gallery so that you can experience a little of this enjoyable walk we have each Shabbat morning.
There is no better feeling than to watch happy dogs and excited children interact together, and when its in Israel in the part where the Maccabeans once roamed, and one looks up and sees the tremendous development that is taking place in this young city, it makes one feel a deep feeling of pride that we are walking through a special and important historical landscape that is entwined with Israel's future..
