Shabbat Recipes

Its Friday and Jewish people all over the world are preparing for Shabbat. I am from a traditional Jewish home, Friday night dinner was a daunting fete to get through. Chopped liver with the finest challa, followed by chicken soup with kneidlach and noodles. We then had roast chicken, rice, the best roast potatoes in the world and a fresh seasonal vegetable. Then came the sweet kugel, bathed in golden syrup. By that time, we were so full  that a knap was the inevitable outcome.

People are writing in with tasty recipes for Shabbat, I hope that every Thursday evening or Friday morning there will be new recipes and ideas written by our members. The Jewish people have suffered so much in the past but I have never heard a Jewish person complain about the wonderful Friday night feast.

Shabbat Shalom

Saving Dogs

I have been training dogs tonight in Modiin. It gives such a great feeling to know that many of the dogs came from animal shelters. The owners are good people, with warm and generous hearts. I am honoured to have helped these people and their dogs learn to live harmoniously together. As the night falls, these dogs must be so content as they dream of rabbits and happy times with their new found families.. There is a new gallery, opened tonight by the Arad Lechai animal rescue society. A ray of hope points its way towards those poor creatures, sad as they  dream of better days ahead. Please think seriously about adopting one of these beautiful dogs.
