Pesach is one of the most enjoyable holidays in the Jewish religion. It is a time when Jewish families get to together and celebrate the Seder night. Most Jews, even secular celebrate the seder nights. In Israel, the seder is only for one night, whereas in the Diaspora they have two nights. Another interesting aspect of the passover holiday, is that during chol hamoed (the middle days of pesach) religious Jewish families can travel, and so pesach is a great time for religious Jews to holiday and travel.
The food is also very special during pesach. Only unleavened bread or Matzas as they are usually called, can be eaten. Bread, and any food with flour is not allowed. Different communities have different customs, some allow grains, whilst other do not allow.
The fact that flour is not allowed means that Jewish homes have to be spring cleaned to remove all traces of flour. Even dishes and cutlery are changed over and only pesach cooking and eating utensils are used.
Pesach lasts for 7 days in Israel, and in the Diaspora, passover lasts for eight days
